When a product becomes slow to change and painful to run, the temptation is to start again. Rewrites are rarely the fastest path.

Stabilise first

Add monitoring, fix the incidents that hurt customers most, and make deployments repeatable. Confidence comes before speed.

Strangle, don't rewrite

Replace the system one slice at a time. Route a single feature through new code, prove it works, then move on.

Make progress visible

Share a short weekly update on stability, delivery speed and what changed. Rescues succeed when stakeholders can see momentum.
